This book carries a most appropriate title, focusing on the intertwining between Parvez Hasan’s distinguished career as a public intellectual while demonstrating his intense interest in and love of country. Parvez Hasan has indeed had a full life, ranging from a quarter century in senior positions at the World Bank to advising Saudi Arabia, working on the Philippines, Korea and China. But he has always returned to analyzing the economy of Pakistan, including a candid assessment of its difficult past and present and even an intrepid look at its future potential. These memories are disarming, well written, straightforward and should appeal to both economics and the general public.
